Rinomana Inc. (“we”, “us”) sets out below how we handle personal information in connection with the website we operate and the shops we run on e-commerce platforms (together, the “Service”).

Article 1 (Scope)

This policy covers the personal information we obtain through the Service.

We do not obtain personal information through the Service for any purpose other than the sale of our products and inquiries relating to those sales.

Article 2 (What We Collect, and How)

1. When you purchase a product

We sell our products through Gumroad and other e-commerce platforms (each a “Platform”). When you make a purchase, we receive from the Platform your name or account name, email address, order details, and order number.

Credit card numbers and other payment details are handled by the Platform and its payment processors. We never receive or hold them.

We do not collect your postal address, telephone number, date of birth, or any similar information.

2. When you contact us

When you write to us by email or through a Platform’s messaging function, we receive your name, email address, and the content of your message.

3. When you use our website

We may use cookies and similar technologies to record the date and time of access, the pages viewed, IP address, and browser type. See Article 4.

Article 3 (How We Use It)

We use the personal information we collect for the following purposes.

  • To supply our products and to contact you about them
  • To confirm order details and provide support
  • To handle refunds and similar matters
  • To respond to your inquiries, including confirming your identity
  • To identify anyone who breaches our Terms of Service, or who attempts to use the Service for improper purposes, and to decline to serve them
  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • For purposes incidental to the above

We do not send marketing email without your consent.

Article 4 (Cookies and Analytics)

Our website may use cookies and analytics tools to understand how the site is used and to improve it.

The information collected this way does not by itself identify any individual.

If you would prefer not to allow cookies, you can refuse them in your browser settings. Some features of the Service may not work if you do.

Article 5 (Disclosure to Third Parties)

We do not disclose personal information to third parties without your prior consent, except in the following cases.

  • Where required by law
  • Where disclosure is necessary to protect a person’s life, body, or property and it is difficult to obtain that person’s consent
  • Where we must cooperate with a national or local government body, or a party acting on its behalf, carrying out duties prescribed by law, and obtaining consent would impede those duties

We never sell, rent, or otherwise supply personal information to third parties for advertising purposes.

Article 6 (Processors)

To the extent necessary to achieve the purposes above, we may entrust the handling of personal information to the following kinds of service provider. Where we do so, we exercise appropriate oversight of them.

  • Operators of the e-commerce platforms we sell through
  • Payment processors
  • Providers of servers, cloud services, and other systems

Article 7 (Storage and International Transfer)

We operate our business in Japan, and the personal information we obtain is managed in Japan.

Some of the platforms and cloud services we use are provided by companies outside Japan. Personal information may therefore be stored on servers outside Japan through those services.

Article 8 (Retention)

We keep personal information for as long as it is needed for the purposes set out above.

After that, we delete or dispose of it promptly, except where the law requires us to retain it.

Article 9 (Access, Correction, and Deletion)

You may ask us to disclose, correct, add to, delete, or stop using or erase the personal information we hold about you.

Please send your request to the contact point in Article 11. We will verify your identity and respond without undue delay.

We may be unable to comply in full or in part in any of the following cases. If so, we will tell you promptly.

  • Where doing so risks harming the life, body, property, or other rights and interests of you or a third party
  • Where doing so would seriously impede the proper conduct of our business
  • Where doing so would breach the law

Where the law of your country or region gives you rights beyond those set out in this policy, those rights prevail.

Article 10 (Security)

We take the measures necessary and appropriate to keep personal information secure, including preventing its leakage, loss, or damage.

Article 11 (Contact)

Where the law requires your consent to a change, we will seek that consent separately.

Article 13 (Governing Law and Jurisdiction)

This policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan. This does not, however, deprive you of any protection afforded to you as a consumer by the law of the country or region in which you live.

Should litigation concerning this policy become necessary, the Tokyo District Court or the Tokyo Summary Court shall be the exclusive court of first instance by agreement. This does not restrict any right you may have, as a consumer under the law of the country or region in which you live, to bring proceedings before the courts of that place.
